The Chaffee County Democrats are working diligently to promote, protect, and provide support for the values of Chaffee County community minded people, where landscapes of unsurpassed natural beauty are home to populations of wildlife. We support the challenge of preserving those assets.
We believe government at all levels has a role in enhancing economic development and encouraging the economic well being of all citizens. Chaffee County Democrats believe that development can take place without significantly impacting the views, wildlife, native flora, and historical sites that give our area its high quality of life and distinctive identity.
We believe that our youth are our most important asset. We embrace the importance of public education and the importance of lifelong learning. We believe healthcare for all Americans is essential and achievable.
In a county where annual precipitation nearly meets desert standards, water is an essential part of our daily life. It is the “life blood” of our economy as well as our personal needs. Chaffee County Democrats support efforts that enhance the quality and quantity of water in the county.
With the recent rise of a regressive Republican agenda, we cannot let our guard down. Our county party intends to fight to keep the progressive gains that have been made in the past and to support the values we believe in for the future. We will work to retain local Democrats in the county offices they now occupy, and elect progressive Democratic candidates in 2012. Our recruitment committee already has begun the search for the best candidates to receive our party’s backing next year.
Even local campaigns are costly and require considerable volunteer efforts. We thank all who’ve contributed time and money in the past. Your membership in our 2011 Century Club with a contribution of $100 or more will help the local party further our shared values.
