Senator Gail Schwartz (D-Snowmass) will update constituents on the 2012 legislative session and allow time for an open forum for questions and discussion.  “I’m looking forward to the opportunity to hear from my Chaffee County communities and discuss the legislative priorities for the 2012 session.  Everyone is welcome to stop by!” says Senator Schwartz.

Registered Democrats are encouraged to come and participate in their democratic process. Help articulate a platform. Become a delegate. All registered Democrats can participate.  Check-in will start at 6 p.m. and the caucuses will begin at 7 p.m

The caucuses include a presidential preference poll, resolutions for the party platform, election of delegates and alternates to the county assembly, discussion of resolutions, election of precinct committee people, and selection of election judges. Those attending are encouraged to bring draft resolutions for the party platform.

The caucus and assembly are part of the process of designating local, district and statewide candidates for the primary on June 26.

Important Election Dates-2012

Tue      February 7, 2012 – Republican Party Precinct Caucus Day

Tue      March 6, 2012 – Democratic Party and American Constitution Party Caucus

Tue      May 29, 2012 – Last day to change or withdraw from major political party affiliation

Tue      May 29, 2012 – Last day to register to vote for the Primary Election

Mon    June 4, 2012 – First day mail ballots will be sent to voters

Tue     June 26, 2012 – PRIMARY ELECTION DAY.  The Primary Election will be an all MAIL BALLOT election.  

All mail ballots must be in the hands of the county clerk by 7:00 p.m. on Election Day.  Ballots cast my military and overseas must be sent no later than 7:00 p.m. on election day and received by the close of business on the 8th day after the election.

Tue    October 9, 2012 – Last day to register to vote for the General Election

Tue    November 6, 2012 – GENERAL ELECTION DAY.  The General Election will be a Vote Center Election.  Voters on the Permanent Mail-In Ballot list will receive their ballots by mail.

All ballots must be in the hands of the county clerk by 7:00 p.m. on Election Day.  Ballots cast my military and overseas must be sent no later than 7:00 p.m. on election day and received by the close of business on the 8th day after the election.
