As Chaffee County Democrats, we believe government at all levels has a role in enhancing economic development and encouraging the economic well-being of all citizens. Toward that end we believe local governments in Chaffee County should:
- Support the businesses that are today’s life-blood of the county and assure they operate in a favorable business atmosphere.
- Work to attract to the County business and industry that compensates its employees fairly and that contributes to a clean and healthy community.
- Provide reasonable incentives to such enterprises without engaging in unreasonable competitive bidding with other local governments
- Enhance the ability of enterprises to develop here by improving our infrastructure including telecommunications.
- Work to enhance education at the elementary, secondary, and post secondary level so as to provide an attractive workforce for enterprise and higher quality education for families of workers.
- Recognize, support, and market the extraordinary natural assets of the valley to employers and visitors. Encourage the retention of those assets by supporting our ranchers the beauty of whose lands are an attraction to tourists.
- Work with our financial institutions to provide an incubator system to keep our entrepreneurs and attract others.
- Work diligently together including economic development in their IGA’s.
