Chaffee County Democrats believe that our youth are our most important asset. To support our youth, quality educational opportunities must be a priority. We embrace the importance of public education and the importance of life-long learning. Our public schools, together with parents and community members, must be responsible for ensuring that this goal is accomplished. Therefore, Chaffee County Democrats support:
- The continuation of strong public schools having a vision that provides a quality learning experience, forming thoughtful and intelligent minds;
- Equal educational opportunities for all youth;
- Strong K-12 Public Schools that also include early childhood programs;
- Collaborating with local higher educational programs to ensure a smooth transition from high school to life-long learning opportunities;
- A strong public school curriculum that reflects the needs of our local communities and prepares the students for multiple career choices in a global society;
- The preparation of a cross-section of citizens who will provide leadership in maintaining our strong public schools;
- Using the assets of our citizens to develop school/community connections, providing partnerships that will broaden the students’ learning experiences;
- Strong financial commitments by local citizens that will ensure quality education for our youth;
- Efforts to maintain a safe environment in our public schools;
- Promoting healthy choices and healthy environments in which to learn.
