It may be hard to imagine, but the November elections are almost upon us. Ballots will be mailed starting the week of October 15th. That means we have 8 weeks to get our amazing local and statewide slate of well-qualified, progressive candidates elected up and down the entire ballot. The time has come to issue the call: ALL HANDS ON DECK! YOU are needed now. We will be supporting our candidates in several ways, through door-to-door canvassing, live phone calls, texts, posting signs, entering data, feeding volunteers, you name it.
Here are a few ways you can help our candidates in the next few weeks. Please RSVP to Joanne Allen at firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up!

The City of Salida will hold a special election on September 25th so that residents may vote on six separate ballot measures. Ballots will be mailed on September 4th, and must be returned by mail or dropped off at the City Clerk’s office in the Touber building during regular business hours. Replacement ballots may also be requested in person at the City Clerk’s office. This is an important election with many significant issues and we strongly encourage all of our City of Salida members to be sure to return their ballots on time. Our inaugural Big Tent BBQ was a smashing success, and featured great food, our candidates, and entertainment by the talented Salida Circus. I want to thank everyone who attended and the all the volunteers who contributed so much to make it happen. It was an important fundraiser for the Chaffee County Democratic Party in this crucial mid term election year. Everyone was able to hear from and meet our Chaffee County, State, and Congressional Democratic candidates who gave inspiring and compelling speeches. Our well qualified candidates and their teams are working hard but they need your support. Volunteer today!

The campaign trail is pretty exhausting. Between Friday and Sunday we drove about 575 miles and knocked doors in three counties. But when you run into someone at the door that remembers you from the 2014 campaign, or get endorsed by partners you admire, the miles don’t seem as long.
Our public lands are the centerpiece of our quality of life and are the economic engine of many communities across Senate District 5. Protecting these lands, and the environment they encompass, is going to take a lot of work and I am so glad to be part of the team dedicated to our streams, mountains, plains, lakes, canyons, and meadows that create the landscapes we love.
A contribution to my campaign will help to reach out to voters across the seven counties I represent. And with unknown attacks waiting from Secretary Zinke, we must have electeds at the state level that will keep our public lands in public hands.
